This Privacy Policy explains how VectraSEO LLC ("Fieldwatt," "we," "us") collects, uses, and shares personal information when you use fieldwatt.app and our Android app (the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to this Policy and to our Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Who we are / data controller: VectraSEO LLC (operator of Fieldwatt), a Pennsylvania limited liability company. Contact: privacy@fieldwatt.app. A registered mailing address is available on written request to that email.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information you provide
- Account and contact information: your email address, used for magic-link (passwordless) sign-in and for service communications.
- Saved job and calculation data (paid feature): the inputs, parameters, results, project/job names, notes, and material lists you create and save (collectively, "Job Data"). Job Data may include free-text you enter (e.g., a job site name or customer reference); we ask that you not enter sensitive personal information you don't need to store.
- Communications: information you provide when you contact support or correspond with us.
1.2 Billing information (paid subscriptions)
We use Stripe to process payments. We do not collect or store full payment card numbers. Stripe collects and processes your payment details directly. We receive and store limited billing metadata from Stripe, such as a Stripe customer/subscription identifier, subscription status and plan, billing country, partial card information (e.g., card brand and last four digits), and payment success/failure events.
1.3 Authentication data
To operate magic-link sign-in, we generate and process one-time sign-in tokens/links and session information associated with your email and account, plus related security metadata (e.g., token issuance and expiry, sign-in timestamps).
1.4 Information collected automatically
We do not use third-party analytics, advertising, or cross-site tracking technologies, and we do not build advertising profiles or track you across other websites or apps. When you use the Service, our servers and hosting infrastructure automatically generate limited technical logs for security, abuse-prevention (rate limiting), and debugging, such as: IP address, request and device/browser metadata, app version, timestamps, and error/diagnostic logs. We use cookies and local/device storage only as described in Section 5.
We do not intentionally collect precise geolocation, biometric data, government identifiers, or special-category/sensitive data, and we ask that you not submit them.
2. How and Why We Use Information
| Purpose | Examples | Categories used |
|---|---|---|
| Provide the Service | Authenticate you via magic link, run calculators, save and display Job Data and material lists | Email, auth data, Job Data |
| Billing and subscriptions | Process payments, manage renewals and cancellations, prevent payment fraud | Email, Stripe billing metadata |
| Security and integrity | Detect and prevent abuse, secure accounts, debug errors | Auth data, usage/device data, IP |
| Communicate with you | Send sign-in links, transactional and account messages, subscription/renewal and price-change notices, support replies | Email, account data |
| Maintain and debug the Service | Diagnose and fix errors, maintain reliability | Technical/security logs |
| Legal and compliance | Comply with law, enforce our Terms, establish or defend legal claims | As needed |
We do not sell your personal information, we do not share it for cross-context behavioral/targeted advertising, and we do not use third-party analytics or advertising trackers.
3. How We Share Information
We share personal information only as described here:
- Service providers / processors who act on our behalf under contract, including:
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) — cloud hosting and data storage, including Amazon DynamoDB (account data, Job Data, and related records are stored in AWS).
- Stripe — payment processing and subscription billing.
- Amazon SES — to send magic-link and transactional emails.
- Legal and safety: to comply with law, legal process, or lawful government requests, and to protect the rights, safety, and property of Fieldwatt, our users, or others, or to enforce our Terms.
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred, subject to this Policy.
- With your direction or consent: when you ask us to share, or you otherwise consent.
We do not share personal information with independent third-party controllers for their own marketing.
4. Where Your Data Is Stored (Data Location)
Your information is stored and processed in the United States on Amazon Web Services infrastructure. The Service is intended for U.S. users. If you access it from outside the United States, you understand your information will be processed in the U.S., which may have different data-protection laws than your location.
5. Cookies, Local Storage, and Similar Technologies
We use only strictly necessary cookies and local/device storage to operate the Service: an httpOnly cookie holds your sign-in session (magic-link authentication), and local storage keeps your in-progress calculator inputs and preferences on your device. These technologies are essential to provide the Service.
We do not use analytics, advertising, or other non-essential cookies or trackers, so no cookie-consent banner is presented. You can clear or block cookies and local storage through your browser or device settings, but doing so may break sign-in or other features.
6. Data Retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes in this Policy, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law.
- Account and Job Data: retained while your account is active and for up to 30 days after account deletion, after which it is deleted or de-identified, except where retention is required by law.
- Magic-link tokens/sessions: short-lived; one-time tokens expire quickly after issuance.
- Billing records: retained as required for tax, accounting, and legal purposes (commonly several years). California's Automatic Renewal Law requires keeping records of a consumer's affirmative consent to auto-renewal for at least three years (or one year after the contract ends, whichever is longer) — confirm this retention is implemented.
- Security/technical logs: retained for up to 90 days for security, abuse-prevention, and debugging.
Backups are retained on a rolling basis and overwritten in the ordinary course; data in backups is purged on the backup rotation cycle.
7. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live and applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of (port) your personal information, and to opt out of sale/share/targeted advertising (we do not currently engage in these). To exercise rights, contact us at privacy@fieldwatt.app. You can delete individual saved jobs at any time from within the app; to delete your entire account and associated data, contact us and we will process the request as required by law. We will verify your request (typically by confirming control of your account email) and respond within the time required by law.
7.1 California (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you may have rights to know/access, delete, correct, and port your personal information, to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" and limit use of sensitive personal information, and to non-discrimination for exercising rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law, and we do not use sensitive personal information for purposes that trigger the limitation right. You may use an authorized agent and may appeal a denied request by contacting us.
7.2 Other U.S. state privacy laws
Residents of other states with comprehensive privacy laws may have similar rights. We honor applicable rights as described above.
7.3 GDPR / UK (only if applicable)
The Service is directed to U.S. users and is not offered in the EU/EEA or UK. If and to the extent the EU/UK GDPR applies, our legal bases are: performance of a contract (providing the Service and billing), legitimate interests (security, improvement, fraud prevention), consent (where required), and legal obligation. You would also have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, and we would address international-transfer safeguards.
8. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information, including encryption in transit, access controls, and reliance on the security capabilities of AWS and Stripe. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for securing your email account and devices, since magic-link sign-in depends on access to your email. If we become aware of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and regulators as required by law.
9. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 18 and is intended for adult electrical-trade professionals and apprentices who are adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn we have collected such information, we will delete it. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us at privacy@fieldwatt.app.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide notice (by email and/or in-app) and update the "Last updated" date. Changes are effective when posted unless stated otherwise. Your continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy.
