This is the short, standalone disclaimer intended to be displayed in the app — for example, on first run (with an "I understand" acknowledgment), in an "About / Legal" screen, and in a persistent or near-results location on each calculator screen. It is written to stand on its own without the full Terms of Use, but it does not replace them.
Read This Before You Rely on Any Result
Fieldwatt's calculators are computational aids only. They are tools to help a qualified person check their own work. They are not a substitute for your professional judgment, your training and license, a stamped or sealed engineering design, or the official electrical code adopted in your jurisdiction.
You are responsible for every result you use. Fieldwatt's outputs are generated automatically from engineering formulas and publicly known values. They may contain errors, may not fit your specific installation, and may not reflect the code edition, amendments, or local rules that apply to your job.
Verify everything before you act. Before relying on any Fieldwatt result, you must independently confirm it against:
- the current edition of the electrical code actually adopted by your Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ), including any state or local amendments;
- the requirements of your AHJ and inspector;
- the manufacturer's instructions and listed ratings for the specific equipment, conductors, conduit, and devices you are using;
- actual field conditions (including temperature, ambient correction, conductor fill, bundling, voltage, load, termination ratings, and any condition the calculator does not capture); and
- your own calculations and licensed professional judgment.
Fieldwatt is not an engineer, electrician, or inspector, does not perform inspections, and does not provide engineering, design, or other professional advice. No result is a professional certification of compliance or safety.
Electrical work is dangerous and safety-critical. A wrong number can cause an inspection failure, equipment damage, fire, injury, or death. Use these tools only if you are qualified to do the work, and never substitute a calculator output for code compliance, listed equipment ratings, or sound professional practice.
No warranty. The calculators are provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE," without any warranty of any kind, including any warranty of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or merchantability. Use is entirely at your own risk.
Not affiliated with NFPA. Fieldwatt is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). "NEC®" and "National Electrical Code®" are registered trademarks of NFPA. Fieldwatt does not reproduce NFPA's copyrighted code text; results are computed from engineering formulas and publicly available information. Always consult the official adopted code.
By tapping "I understand" (or by continuing to use Fieldwatt), you confirm that you have read this disclaimer, that you are a qualified user, and that you accept full responsibility for verifying and using any result. Your use of Fieldwatt is also governed by the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
